I don’t usually reveal much about my personal life on this blog, but a funny moment from a recent cruise vacation should give you a glimpse into the personality of the guy I’ve been married to for almost thirty years.

If you’ve been on a cruise, you know it’s not unusual to find a googly-eyed towel animal, like the one pictured below, on your bed when you return to your stateroom after dinner. The room stewards make these figures, and passengers typically get a kick out of them. I liken the art of towel folding to origami.

When folded properly, two towels and a set of googly eyes make an elephant.

On the first formal night of our cruise, I was having trouble unhooking the back of my dress when we were getting ready for bed, so I said to my husband, “I think I need your help here.”

He responded, “I’m looking,” but since I didn’t feel his fingers on my shoulders, neck, or dress, I turned my head to try to figure out why he couldn’t find the hook. Out of the corner of my eye, this is what I saw:

I think my husband’s sense of humor and his ability to make me laugh are two of his sexiest qualities. (He has many.) Readers, what qualities keep you attracted to your mate?

I guess I failed to answer the question about what qualities continue to attract me to my mate. After fifty years of marriage, I would have to say a really loving and sincere heart and a very caring attitude.

What a cute story !The humor is SOOO Bill! Bill stopped by the other day to tell us that he had read very recently that remodeling a garage (which we did a few months ago) ranked at the very top of major things to do when considering resale of a home. I thanked him for his comment and told him that I appreciated what he had to say. Bill said something to the effect that it his station in life to spread joy! His sarcastic humor never ceases to entertain! We love our Hutchinson neighbors!

Such a cute story! A good sense of humor does go a long way in a marriage. I love when my husband of 33 years does little acts of service for me without any prompting. Whether it’s filling my car up with gas, unloading the dishwasher, or bringing home my favorite chocolates for no reason at all, it lets me know that he cares about me. And that always warms my heart.
